Albino Rocca Barbaresco DOCG Ovella Vigna Loreto

The story of the Rocca family started in Barbaresco during the 1940s, with Giacomo Rocca producing wines from the family vineyard, which continued over the years by his son. During the 1960s, Albino inherited a few sites around Barbaresco, mainly increasing the holdings of the Roccas. Furthered was the work his son Angelo put in the vineyards by limiting the number of herbicides and fungicides used. It ultimately pushes for better winemaking and ageing techniques. The first single-cru bottling happened in the 1980s with the 'Bric Ronchi' and 'Loreto' vineyards and, in 2004, only used the large 20 hectolitres barrels. Today, Monica, Daniela, Paola and Carlo run the estate. Loreto lieux-dit is located within the larger Ovello vineyard at the heart of the historic area of Barbaresco; it was first planted in 1970 and bottled separately during the 1980s. the wine spent at least 20 months in German and Austrian large oak barrels before bottling.
