Albino Rocca Barbaresco DOCG Ronchi

The story of the Rocca family started in Barbaresco during the 1940s, with Giacomo Rocca producing wines from the family vineyard, which continued over the years by his son. During the 1960s, Albino inherited a few sites around Barbaresco, mainly increasing the holdings of the Roccas. Furthered was the work his son Angelo put in the vineyards by limiting the number of herbicides and fungicides used. It ultimately pushes for better winemaking and ageing techniques. The first single-cru bottling happened in the 1980s with the 'Bric Ronchi' and 'Loreto' vineyards and, in 2004, only used the large 20 hectolitres barrels. Today, Monica, Daniela, Paola and Carlo run the estate. The Ronchi vineyard is one of Rocca's most historical sites, located in the municipality of Barbaresco. The vines were planted between 1950 and 1980 on marl and limestone soils. The wine will spend at 20 months in German and Austrian oak casks, followed by 9 months in bottle. \
