Albert Bichot Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Chabiots

Albert Bichot is one of the most emblematic estates in Burgundy; founded by Bernard Bichot in 1831; the next generations built a strong legacy around this house's wines. In 1996, Alberic Bichot took over the reins of the management and instigated many upgrades. The most significant changes: converting to organic practices in the vineyards, opening new markets and expanding the winemaking facilities in 2010. The Bichot family donated much of their time to the Tara Ocean Foundation, helped the region to receive the Unesco World Heritage in 2015 for their tapestry of single vineyards, and supported the Club des Ecrivains de Bourgogne. It is also the leading buyer at the Hospices de Beaune. Today, Albert Bichot owns more than 100 hectares of vineyards through the holdings of their purchased estates; Long-Depaquit in Chablis (65 ha), Chateau-Gris (3.50 ha) and Clos Frantin (7.30 ha) in Nuits-St-Georges, Domaine du Pavillon in Pommard (15 ha), Adelie in Monthelie (7.80 ha) and Rochegres in Moulin a Vent (5.20 ha). 'Les Chabiots' is a lovely 1.50 hectare classified Premier Cru vineyard located right next to the eponymous Grand Cru 'Musigny' and the Premier Cru of 'Les Amoureuses'. It shares similar soils profile, composed of thin pebbles and hard limestone. The wine was aged in 100% new oak for up to 14 months.
